PORTLAND, Oregon — A White House announcement Monday is raising concerns among doctors nationwide. President Donald Trump said the Food and Drug Administration would seek to add new labels to acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, warning that use of the drug by pregnant women could be tied to autism in their babies.

The Trump administration referenced a series of studies that found a link between prenatal exposure to acetaminophen and neurodevelopmental disorders.

"So taking Tylenol is not good, I'll say it, it's not good," Trump told reporters Monday. "For this reason, they are strongly recommending that women limit Tylenol use during pregnancy unless medically necessary."
