When Virginia Tech’s coaching job opened , my mind immediately went to a former SEC coach .

Dan Mullen.

He’s already won at Virginia Tech. OK, so not technically . He won at Mississippi State, but it’s as I always say, Blacksburg, Virginia, is the Starkville of Appalachia.

If you ask me, Mullen already should be coaching in the ACC, because North Carolina should have hired him, and not Bill Belichick, to replace Mack Brown. For proof, see what UCF just did to Belichick's Tar Heels.

Instead, Mullen’s at UNLV, racking up victories as if that abysmal 2021 season that ended his Florida tenure never happened. Mullen looks better and better, with every Billy Napier loss.
