Auburn football’s major problem in last week’s 24-17 loss to Oklahoma was pass protection, with the Tigers giving up 10 sacks to the Sooners defense.
Post-game, Auburn coach Hugh Freeze said he would analyze the film to find out why that number was so high, and he did so with his quarterback Jackson Arnold.
“There’s five that I don’t think [Jackson Arnold] could do anything about. There’s five that I think he’s got to trust that our receivers in one-on-ones will protect him and make a play. So, I thought it was dead down the middle, 50-50. He and I met yesterday, watched everything,” Freeze said Monday afternoon.
Now it did not help the Tigers that the offense started drives inside its own 10-yard line three different times due to poor decision making from the special teams unit.
