Wendy’s International has paid more than $2.8 million to Michigan residents to settle a series of lawsuits related to a 2022 E.coli outbreak.
Payments ranging from $8,000 to $550,000 were made by Wendy’s to settle lawsuits with at least 18 Michigan residents, according to court records.
A settlement agreement was recently reached in a 19th case , an attorney for the plaintiff confirmed to MLive. The agreement still needs to be approved by the court.
Wendy’s was at the center of an E.coli outbreak that sickened at least 109 people across six states during the summer of 2022. The true number of sick people was likely much higher, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
