MAYBEE, Michigan (WTVG) - When it comes to life-saving actions, this was the right place at the right time with the right deputy.
“The doctors that treated the individual after he was transported to the hospital confirmed that his actions, had he not been there as promptly as he was and administered an EpiPen like he carried, the outcome could have been grave if not fatal,” said Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough.
At about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, Monroe County Deputy James Liedel was in his cruiser. That’s when an emergency call came in, leading to a broadcast that a 55-year-old man at Bana Lumber in Maybee, MI, had been stung by a bee and was having an allergic reaction.
Deputy Liedel, according to the sheriff, carries his own EpiPen for personal use. You can see in the vi
