Aston Villa are expected to appoint Roberto Olabe as the club’s new President of Football Operations.

Outgoing transfer chief Monchi is set to leave the club after just over two years in the role, which Olabe is now due to take over.

Villa have reached an agreement with Olabe for him to return to work, following his departure from Real Sociedad earlier this year.

The 57-year-old could be confirmed by Villa shortly as he prepares to head the club’s football department. However, Unai Emery will remain the most powerful figure at the club under the ownership of Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
