BRUNSWICK, Ohio --- As has been the case for much of the past year, Brunswick City Schools Treasurer Mark Pepara’s overview of the district’s long range financial plan at the Sept. 16 school board meeting was noteworthy for what could not be predicted.
Pepara said that while the state required four-year projection takes into account current state funding, several portions of the state budget related to school funding that were vetoed by Gov. Mike DeWine are still very much in play. If reintroduced and passed as written, Pepara said, the district would lose an estimated $12 million in funding.
He added that one of the proposals, to eliminate emergency levies, would also remove a 12% tax rollback for Brunswick taxpayers – resulting in the district being forced to ask for more money more of
