Despite ABC’s announcement that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to television on Tuesday, Sinclair Broadcast Group has confirmed it will not air the late-night show on its affiliate stations, Parade reports.

“Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming,” Sinclair stated in a message shared on X .

The broadcast group added that “discussions with ABC are ongoing” as they consider the show’s potential future return.

The standoff began when Kimmel’s show was initially suspended on Sept. 17.

Sinclair labeled Kimmel’s remarks as “inappropriate” and “deeply insensitive” in a press release to People magazine. The broadcaster outlined specific demands before allowing the show back on air,
