HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI – A man who went missing for nearly 24 hours in a forest in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is expressing his gratitude to the community, WLUC reports .

An 82-year-old man from Lower Michigan went to bait a bear stand and got lost in the woods in Houghton County around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, the report said. He was reported missing about five hours later. Several agencies and the community came together to search for the man, known as Jerry, who turned up around 4 p.m. the next day.
