WASHINGTON — A 40-year-old D.C. man is facing murder charges after being arrested in the July shooting death of Lawrence Meekins , 50.

DC Police said members of the fugitive unit arrested Ramone Richardson, of Southeast, D.C., at the DC Jail on Monday. He was charged with second-degree murder while armed for Meekins' death on July 1.

Officers were first called to the 1800 block of E Street Southeast shortly after 2 a.m. on July 1 for a report of gunshots. When officers arrived they found a man, later identified as Meekins of Northwest D.C., shot multiple times. Meekins was pronounced dead at the scene.

On July 4, investigators released surveillance video of a man, who was identified as Richardson as a person of interest in the case. In the video, Richardson was seen riding a scooter.
