WASHINGTON, DC — An Illinois lawmaker is supporting a gun control law in the wake of recent political violence.

Congressman Eric Sorensen is joining legislation that would ban certain semi-automatic and high-capacity gun magazines that hold more than 15 rounds. The bill would also ban guns with military features like pistol grips and folding stocks.

“Each year, thousands of families find themselves sitting around the dinner table with the empty chair from a loved one lost too soon to gun violence,” said Sorensen. “We must take steps to protect our communities and our loved ones from gun violence.
