STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State has parted ways with longtime head football coach Mike Gundy after 21 seasons, according to Pete Thamel and ESPN.
The decision comes just days before the Cowboys are set to face Baylor, following a disappointing 1-2 start to the season that included a loss to in-state opponent Tulsa.
Gundy, 57, had been the face of the program since taking over in 2005. He compiled more than 160 career victories, led Oklahoma State to a Big 12 championship in 2011 and earned a Fiesta Bowl win that same season. His tenure made him the longest-serving coach in school history.
