NORFOLK, Va. — The Trump administration is raising new questions about the use of Tylenol by expectant mothers. Health experts say the science hasn't changed, and they're pushing back on the White House findings.
"We had to quickly reaffirm a statement we put out previously that confirms that we haven't found a connection between acetaminophen [Tylenol] and autism," said Dr. Judette Louis, with the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine.
President Trump, in a White House announcement on Monday, stated that acetaminophen is responsible for the nation's "skyrocketing" rates of autism.
Louis, however, said the connection between acetaminophen and autism has been studied for decades and that evidence-based research shows acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, does not cause autism.
