A pedestrian was struck and killed by at least one vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 95 in Providence, Rhode Island, on Monday night.
Rhode Island State Police said they responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck on I-95 north in the area of Point Street in Providence around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

When they arrived state troopers found the pedestrian in the high-speed lane. The person was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Providence Fire Department.
The drivers of the two vehicles involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators, according to state police. They said preliminary information indicates that the pedestrian was trying to cross the highway in an eas
