DENVER — President Donald Trump (R) promoted unproven links between Tylenol and autism. On Monday, Trump told women they should not take acetaminophen - the active ingredient in Tylenol - and they should not give it to their babies.

"Taking Tylenol is not good. I'll say it, it's not good," said Trump.

Despite the risks of high fever to pregnant women and their babies during pregnancy, Trump told women to "tough it out."

"But if you can't tough it out, you can't do it, that's what you'll have to do," Trump said. "You'll take a Tylenol, but it'll be very sparingly. It could be something that's very dangerous to the woman's health."

But doctors pushed back on the president's claims.

Dr. Bob Belknap, chair of the Public Health Institute at Denver Health, said Tylenol has been and is safe.
