KENTUCKY (WKYT) - In a press conference on Monday, President Donald Trump promoted the link between pregnant women taking acetaminophen or Tylenol and an increased risk of autism for the baby.

Many health professionals and scientists are disputing the President’s claims.

Woodford Public Health Director Cassie Prather says Tylenol is one of the few over-the-counter medications listed as safe for the mother to take.

“There’s extensive data that shows that Tylenol is safe during pregnancy, safe to take during pregnancy,” Prather said. “I’m sure for a lot of moms that have taken Tylenol during pregnancy. I’m sure they are feeling a lot of pressure, guilt unnecessarily.”
