BENNINGTON – Select Board members said Monday they are not yet prepared to discuss in open session the town’s options for replacing longtime Town Manager Stuart Hurd, who died on August 30.
Providing an update on the process, board Chair Tom Haley said, “We wanted to take the opportunity to let the public know what we’ve been doing and perhaps hear any input from the public.”
He added that the board has met twice in executive session, the first time “primarily to discover what we don’t know and setting up ways to acquire that information that we needed.”
Board members also have “met with and heard from senior town staff, various stakeholders in town, and we are moving as quickly as possible toward making a decision on this matter,” Haley said.
