State Sen. Sylvia Santana, D-Detroit, and her husband, former Rep. Harvey Santana, have been sued by a neighbor, who alleges that the Santanas carelessly set off fireworks toward his property, resulting in severe injuries to him.

The lawsuit, filed in Wayne County Circuit Court in late August, contended the Santanas carelessly set off fireworks on July 4, 2023, at a home in the 5000 block of Brace Street in Detroit.
