Syracuse, N.Y. ― Last season, JJ Starling missed seven games with an injury to his left wrist, but now the senior guard appears to have an injury to his right hand.

The Syracuse men’s basketball team held its first official practice of the 2025-26 season on Monday. In photos of the practice put out on the school’s social media platforms, there is a splint Starling’s right hand. The splint seems to be bracing his index and middle fingers together.

SU athletic communications director Pete Moore said Starling was not expected to miss any games this season. Starling’s participation in practice is obviously limited at this time.

Syracuse opens the 2025-26 season on Monday, Nov. 3 against Binghamton at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange will play in two preseason exhibitions on Oct. 25 at Buff
