RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Reno City Council members are set to discuss the possible sale of the Lear Theater.
The city says it has received an unsolicited letter of interest from Gina Hasler to buy the vacant property.
The local photographer says she has assembled a team that is passionate about restoring the iconic building and transforming it into a vibrant hub for the arts.
In the proposal, Hasler says it will be managed by locals and outlines using the building as a theater, for concerts, immersive experiences, community events, weddings and more.
The city bought the property from Artown a few years ago, but the efforts to restore it have failed.
While no purchase price has been set, Hasler says the interested parties have a successful history of securing grants and large scale donors.
