WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — More than a dozen Woonsocket High School students who were arrested during a series of fights Monday have been suspended, 12 News has learned.

Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Oates said officers were called to the school just after 8:30 a.m. for disturbances that continued until about 1 p.m. By the end of the day, 13 students had been taken into custody.

According to Oates, the incidents involved multiple groups: an initial fight between three females, a later disturbance with as many as six males in separate areas of the school, and two other altercations involving two females and two males.

All of the students involved were arrested on disorderly conduct charges. Oates said they were all later released to their parents except for one probation violator who was
