On Tuesday, September 23, her family shared the heartbreaking news of her death in a post on her Instagram account, writing, “It is with broken hearts that we share that Zuza died yesterday morning.”

Her family explained that Zuza had battled cancer for 11 years, since she was around three and a half years old. “Her being changed us forever, and her dying will too,” the caption read. They added, “It is no coincidence to us that the last video she made captures what she was grateful for, a testament to a life filled with both beauty and suffering.”
