Community organizer Monica Cannon-Grant pleaded guilty Monday to a litany of federal charges for diverting thousands of dollars that were donated to her antiviolence nonprofit for personal expenses, including a vacation , trips to a nail salon, rent, cellphones, auto insurance, and a car she bought for a relative.

As part of a plea deal, Cannon-Grant, 44, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to 18 counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, and tax violations. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss nine counts related to allegations of mortgage fraud.
