PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — A death investigation is underway in southern Arizona after two dead bodies were found west of Tucson.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said they received a report on the night of Sept. 22 about a "suspicious" vehicle in the desert area near Ajo Way and Hermans Road. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two dead bodies in the backseat.

The rate of decomposition suggested the two individuals had been deceased for several days, PCSD said.

Investigators are in the process of notifying the next of kin and the medical examiner will conduct autopsies to determine how the individuals died. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call 88-CRIME.
