Tireless volunteer and advocate for Mandurah’s homeless Reg Lambert has died aged 101.

The founder of PeelConnect was remembered last week for the work he did well into his 90s to help some of Mandurah’s most vulnerable community members.

For 30 years, Mr Lambert was a familiar face to those living on the streets of Mandurah.

Rain or shine, the former pastor would drive out and deliver care bags to those doing it tough.

At 80, Mr Lambert and his late wife Bet lived on the streets for four years by choice in Tamworth, Brisbane, Darwin and Mandurah to understand why people became homeless.

The pair cancelled their pensions and slept on verandahs, in sheds and under bushes.

After the adventure, Mr Lambert founded not-for-profit group PeelConnect.
