Oklahoma football’s John Mateer injures right hand, could miss Texas game and beyond with Wednesday surgery

An injury to OU’s star quarterback has his playing status in jeopardy moving forward.

John Mateer, Oklahoma football’s quarterback, will undergo surgery Wednesday to address a right-hand injury to his thumb he sustained in the first quarter of Oklahoma’s 24-17 win Saturday over Auburn, according to a press release from the team Tuesday.
