TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Getting a COVID-19 booster shot just got easier in Florida.
Publix and Walgreens confirmed to WCTV in an email on Tuesday afternoon that they will offer COVID-19 vaccines without a prescription beginning on Wednesday for those who are eligible.
Right now, people who are 65 and older, plus adults with pre-existing conditions, are considered eligible to get the shot, according to the FDA.
A Publix spokesperson told WCTV that an advisory from the Florida Board of Pharmacy paved the way for the pharmacy to administer the vaccine.
Per the spokesperson, the board suggested that under existing rules, “Florida may administer FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines to eligible individuals 18 years and older under protocol.”
