MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (HEARTLAND WEEKEND) - The annual Mt. Vernon Fall Fest is set for September 26-27.

Organizers say the theme will be “Small Town, Common Ground.”

Inspired by the city’s newest downtown destination, The Commons, this year’s theme celebrates the unity, spirit and shared experiences that bring the Mount Vernon community together.

There will be special programming at The Commons, including a pre-parade health expo and community showcases, a kid’s zone, vendors, food and more.

Friday, Sept. 26

Organizers say all cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome to take part in the Monken Toyota Cruise-In at S. 11th and Jordan St.

Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. The car show begins at 5 p.m. and awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m.
