Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros returned to practice on Tuesday with a message for those who say he should retire.
“If I shouldn’t be out here, then I wouldn’t be out here,” Collaros said.
The 37-year-old missed the last two games with a head injury, his longest injury-forced absence in his five-plus seasons in Winnipeg.
Forced to the sidelines with a head or neck problem three times this season, the result of this latest hit raised red flags about his playing future, most notably from TSN panelist Milt Stegall.
The former Bomber receiver and Hall of Famer expressed concern about Collaros’s long-term health and called for him to retire.
Collaros says he doesn’t pay attention to what’s said outside the team facility, but he did hear about Stegall’s comment from his wife
