Agencies responded Tuesday afternoon to a wreck on Interstate 65 northbound involving an 18-wheeler that left the roadway and caught fire in Morgan County.

Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes says the vehicle left the roadway near mile marker 333, travelling through the wood line on Pleasant Acres Road. He said it struck several trees and caught on fire.

Holmes confirmed one fatality - the male driver of the vehicle.

According to the city of Decatur, all northbound lanes were shut down at 3 p.m. Officials have not said when they expect the lanes to reopen.

Please avoid the area if possible. If you are unable to avoid this route, the city says to expect major delays.
