QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — For Hispanic Heritage Month, The Museum at Queens College has a special exhibition starting this week that honors the coming-of-age tradition for Latinas— quinceañeras.
The celebration is an important moment in the life of a Latina woman, and it's now the center of the new exhibit.
"I haven't seen it in a long time. It's spectacular," Ashley Segundo, of Jackson Heights, said.
It's the first time she's laid eyes on her quinceañera dress in nine years. It was tucked away in a storage box for all that time. Now it's on display in the museum.
"It brings me back to when I was 15," Segundo said with tears in her eyes.
