RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -While major pharmacies here in Northern Nevada are offering this year’s COVID Vaccine now, earlier this month it was a different story.
That’s because pharmacists licensed in our state said a law in Nevada prevented them from administering a vaccine without CDC approval.
That approval is still pending.
But Nevada’s State Board of Pharmacy gave practitioners the go ahead. And now patients who want the COVID vaccine for this year can get it.
Dr. Wei Yang, who studies the long-term health ramifications of COVD says the vaccine can help those with compromised immune systems.
Smokers for instance.
“While we are checking those smoking evidence. We find the COVID vaccine provides those protection factors,” says Dr. Yang who studies epidemiology and biostatistics at UNR’s
