BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Drought conditions have hit farmers hard, including at Jackson’s Orchard.
According to data from the Bowling Green airport, we didn’t have rain for almost two weeks. As of Sept. 23, conditions are classified as a moderate to severe drought in South-Central Kentucky.
“It’s been kind of a wild year with such a wet spring, even into early summer, and then the faucet turned off and stayed off until here recently. Not ideal by any means,” explains co-owner of Jackson’s Orchard Jonathan Price.
Price says it wasn’t until Aug. 1 that extremely dry conditions began, leaving the apples at risk of falling before they ripened.
