LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - KGNS+ is honoring 15-year-old Alejandra Gonzalez for leading a donation drive that assisted those affected by the massive floods in Kerrville, Texas .

Gonzalez quickly took action by setting up a donation box in front of her family’s home to collect donations of water, canned food and toiletries. After gathering all the items, she organized and sent around 600 items to the people of Kerrville.

She says helping those in need is a passion of hers, stating, “Making a difference in our community is what makes a change in it. I feel like my parents motivate me a lot about our community, and I just love to help out.“
