BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) - Bar Harbor’s tourism season has extended well into the fall keeping businesses open later into the year.

“Really expanded from a post-Labor Day, and Bar Harbor has gotten that notoriety as being a great fall destination to come to,” said Executive Director of Bar Harbor’s Chamber of Commerce, Everal Eaton.

A lack of cruise ships this year has brought fewer people to town.

A surge of visitation for fall colors would really be a boost.

“Businesses in Bar Harbor shape their shoulder seasons being open longer in the season because of cruise ships being here.
