WASHINGTON — A 12-foot statue of President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein holding hands appeared on the National Mall early Tuesday morning, sparking swift condemnation from the White House.

An anonymous group called The Secret Handshake has taken credit for the installation. The statue, made mostly of foam and wire painted bronze, depicts the two men in a prancing pose.

A plaque appeared alongside the protest art, reading "We celebrate the long-lasting bond between President Donald J. Trump and his 'closest friend' Jeffrey Epstein." The plaque notes the installation is "In Honor of Friendship Month" and includes a quote, "Voice Over: There must be more to life than having everything," that references a sexually suggestive letter to Jeffrey Epstein purportedl
