Guntersville residents had a chance to make history as they cast their votes in a tie-breaker run-off election for mayor on Tuesday.
In August, incumbent Mayor Leigh Dollar and her opponent Jeff McLaughlin ended in a tie. Initially, Dollar led by a single vote until the counting of seven provisional ballots, which resulted in a tie.
"It's been a long hot summer with lots of hard work so I'm just glad today is here and look forward to what the people of Guntersville decide," Dollar said.
Both candidates expressed gratitude for the support they have received and encouraged residents to vote. McLaughlin emphasized the importance of voter turnout.
