DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- A Dauphin County official will be going through the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program after crashing his county-owned vehicle earlier this year in a parking garage.

Online court records show that Dauphin County Commissioner George Hartwick, 53, of Harrisburg, will go through ARD probation supervision for six months and he will have to do 30 hours of community service. Hartwick was in court Tuesday to give a plea in front of Senior Judge Howard Kinsley.

"ARD is a program for first time offenders," according to The McShane Firm's website. "If you successfully complete the program, the prosecutor will dismiss the case and you can expunge your criminal record. However, expungement after ARD doesn’t really mean that the record goes away forever
