LANSING — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has joined a coalition of states in opposing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to rescind its 2009 Endangerment Finding.

This finding determined that greenhouse gas emissions endanger public health and welfare. The coalition argues that rescinding the finding would violate settled law, Supreme Court precedent, and scientific consensus, endangering the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans.

The EPA also proposes to repeal all existing federal greenhouse gas emissions standards for all motor vehicle classes and all years, which the coalition says would be catastrophic for states and local governments.
