Former Mobile County District Judge Spiro Cheriogotis is the projected winner of Mobile's mayoral runoff election.

He was running against State Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile).

With 95% of precincts reporting, Cheriogotis was in the lead by 51.44% with 24,370 votes to Drummond's 23,006 votes.

Cheriogotis said his top priority would be public safety. He quit his job as a judge and gave up retirement to run.

Cheriogotis was endorsed by former mayor Mike Dow and former Baldwin County Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack.

Drummond was backed by the Alabama Education Association (AEA) and was endorsed by former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) and Birmingham mayor Randall Woodfin.
