FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A Flagstaff resident is dead following a weekend crash involving an on-duty police officer—raising fresh questions about why the officer was allowed to remain on patrol despite a history of medical issues and prior accidents.
The Flagstaff Police Department said on Sept. 20, a two-vehicle crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. on East Butler Avenue near the Sinagua Heights intersection.
Medical teams arrived at the scene of the crash and immediately began to offer medical care to both of the people involved in the crash.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the police officer was taken to the hospital.
