PHOENIX — The Arizona Auditor General released a special audit on the Arizona Department of Child Safety, looking into investigations of noncriminal child abuse and neglect reports.

The report is in response to a September 18, 2024, resolution of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee.

The audit, which is 98 pages in length, includes three major findings, recommendations to the department, the department's response, and the scope and methodology for the audit, along with other information.

According to the audit, DCS hotline staff determined that 36,960 calls they received in 2024 met the criteria to be a noncriminal report of child abuse or neglect.
