IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Teachers and parents say the Iowa City Community School District isn’t doing enough to protect its teachers from students.
About ten teachers and parents addressed the school board saying the Iowa City school district doesn’t do enough to prevent and mitigate violent attacks from students targeting educators.
One parent said her first grade son witnessed a student attempt to strangle a teacher.
She said the school district didn’t tell parents parents about the incident until the end of the school year.
She said she worries students could see something traumatic and have to deal with it alone.
