Chandrapur, Sep 24: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an inquiry against two postal department officials for allegedly misappropriating Rs 15.95 lac from 20 recurring deposit (RD) accounts of the Branch Office at Govindpur in Chandrapur Division.

According to CBI sources, a written complaint was lodged by S Ramakrishna, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Chandrapur, accusing a sub-post master of Allapalli Sub Post Office and another official from the Govindpur branch of siphoning off the funds.

Preliminary findings indicate that between 2018 and 2022, the accused officials conspired to forge withdrawal slips bearing false signatures of RD account holders. They allegedly processed fake loans, pre-closures and closures of RD
