WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Winnebago County is seeking community input as it continues to lay out its 2026 budget.

Some highlighted changes in the $238 million budget include 32 new county positions, including six in both homeless protection and crisis services, and public safety.

For Winnebago County Executive Gordon Hintz, the biggest challenges facing the county include over $67 million in deferred maintenance, as well as housing and labor shortages.

“The government at the county level hasn’t always been the most transparent, and hasn’t always been able to engage the public, and I think by doing it seven weeks earlier, by doing a budget in brief document, by doing town halls around the county, we’re really trying to bring it to where the people are,” Gordon Hintz, Winnebago Coun
