Wetherspoons has scrapped new queuing rules which were aimed at helping Gen Z drinkers. The pub giant, which operates boozers across Birmingham , had asked customers to form a line for service at one of its venues.

It is thought the idea was to help Gen Z drinkers and staff who cannot get the hang of the traditional scrum at the bar. But now The Surrey Docks boozer in Rotherhithe, South East London, has u-turned.

One local said: “I didn’t really understand it to begin with, but if they now don’t want people to queue, maybe they need a sign to make that clear.
