Outgoing Town of East Fremantle mayor Jim O’Neill revealed he was subject to online abuse about the East Fremantle Community Park redevelopment before the council voted to issue an “urgent” response.

The town has pledged $8 million to the facility’s redevelopment, with the State Government contributing $26m and contributions from Lotterywest and the AFL Facilities Fund.

The integrated community and sporting precinct is home to the East Fremantle Football Club, as well as East Fremantle bowling and croquet clubs, half-court basketball and an all-abilities play space.
