The Hindu Seva Sangh has written to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, requesting permission to use the newly constructed Chatham Slipway Jetty or vehicle ferries for the immersion of Durga Pooja idols this year.
In his letter, Abhay Kumar, President of the Hindu Seva Sangh, highlighted issues faced during the recent Ganesh Pooja celebrations, where idols immersed at Marina Park and Junglighat jetty were seen resurfacing and drifting back to the shore. According to him, this not only created inconvenience in proper disposal but also hurt the religious sentiments of devotees, while raising concerns over cleanliness and environmental management at prominent public locations.
