Acting on a credible tip-off, the North & Middle Andaman District Police intercepted two individuals near the Police Quarters in Madhupur and seized 15.5 kg of venison from their possession on 21st September 2025. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.

The illicit meat was confiscated on the spot under Sections 50 and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and the two offenders were apprehended. Following due procedure, both individuals along with the seized venison were handed over to Forest officials for further legal action.

This successful operation underscores the police’s commitment to protecting the islands’ rich biodiversity and combating illegal wildlife trade.
