WASHINGTON — As road trips begin to slow and back to school carpool ramps up, it's important to make sure that children are in the right car seat. Sept. 21 to Sept. 27 marks Child Passenger Safety Week which is annually dedicated to saving the lives of children in cars across the country.

To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of a crash and to help residents to be aware of child passenger safety, residents in D.C. can secure a car seat for free on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1001 Half Street SW from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday is also recognized as National Seat Check Saturday. If residents already have a car seat, they can head to the same event to have their car seats checked to make sure they are properly installed for free.
